The Cost of Being Cheap

I wonder how many times we have missed something great God is trying to do for us because we’re cheap. Were too cheap to enjoy life and were too cheap to accept gifts from others if it cost too much. Today I took someone out to eat they knew I was paying for it, and they ordered the cheapest food they could find. Watching them look over the menu and speaking about the options they’re thinking of. I said get what you want I got it you don’t have to be cheap. I asked why they were being cheap when I was paying for it and if memory serves me correctly, they said I’m not trying to break you.

Isn’t it funny how we in our own way? We put a price tag on ourselves. Oftentimes because of low self-esteem or past rejection. We just go through life when others try to gift us whatever they gift a meal, a shirt, shoes, a card etc.… they go in on the cost. How about this maybe I felt that you were worth it to me. How about that.

Now I’m not saying go in and spend $100 for a meal but were here and the most expensive plate is about $20 or $30. You don’t have to get the $10 daily special. No one said it’s what you had to get. No one said you had a limit on what you could get. So, how do we get pass this? How do we move out of our own way? And most importantly how do we move out of Gods way?
