Opinions
/A wise man once told me that I don’t have to have an opinion on everything. The funniest thing about the fact that he said this to me was I have never heard it before, No one I know has ever said you don’t have to have an opinion. Mom, dad, granny pawpaw, teachers, friends, nobody absolutely no one. And the truth is what makes it weird is that no one says it because you should just know that you don’t have to have an opinion on everything. I began to wonder then why I didn’t know this. Today I have my answer.
We live in a world where we are so encouraged to speak our opinion to the point that we can’t have a normal conversation without an argument. Or leaving someone feeling like we just shut down their opinion and tried to force ours on them. Why their opinion is wrong and ours is right. How divided have we become over our opinions? I’ve had arguments over mine. Times where even family members and I had to spend time away from one another to cool down because we talked about our opinions. This was years ago but how many still do it?
How much better would the world be if we kept our mouth shut? Or our opinions to ourselves? If we each began to realize that we don’t have to have an opinion on every little thing there would be a lot of things going out of business. For starters all of the television shows, newspapers, magazine columns about some form of gossip would no longer serve a purpose. I’ve since learned not to be so opinionated or have so much to say. There is great benefit to keeping quiet. Here’s some bible to back all this up.
· For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words. Eccl. 5:3
· Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.Ps.141:3
· Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. Prov. 17:28
· Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles Prov. 21:23
· But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. Mtt. 12:36
· But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 2Tim. 2:16
· Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. James 1:19
