Leaning on Him
/Right now, I'm listening to my absolute favorite song ever. Bill Withers Lean on Me. I love to listen to music and see how I can apply that song to either Christ singing it to me or me signing it to Him. I know, sort of silly BUT here are the lyrics and here's how I do it. I think if you try it you will be not only amazed but filled with joy and peace as well. It’s so much better when the lyrics support what scripture tells us also.
Hmmm- hmm-hmm
Sometimes in our lives
we all have pain
we all have sorrows
but if we are wise
we know that there's always tomorrow.
At the start Bill hums this is relaxing to the mind and starts an inner calm. So far, the lyrics remind us that we as in everybody has pain and sorrow sometime not all the time. We are reminded if we are wise, we know that there's always tomorrow cause we never die, the spirit lives on. We are to see pass the pain and sorrow with the hope of this tomorrow, the day when all pain and suffering will end.
Lean on me
when you're not strong
and I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
Till I'm going to need somebody to lean on
We are reminded that we will always need the help of others. We all need a friend (neighbors). They help us to be strong and carry on through their encouraging words of hope in our times of pain and sorrow. So far I am singing to Christ as a reminder to myself that I have help I have a friend that is always there for me when I am weak and in need and He is that friend. I'm reminding myself to be there for others to love care and show compassion to my neighbor cause one day I will need it myself and I can only reap what I sow. If I'm not really there for others, then when my time of need comes, I will feel alone as I face what I face.
Please swallow your pride
If I have things, you need to borrow
for no one can fill
those of your needs that you won’t let show
you just call on me brother when you need a hand
we all need somebody to lean on
Here is the reminder again to myself to never be so prideful that I allow the enemy to win. Never be so prideful that I'd rather let the enemy defeat me than to ask for help. People can’t help me if I don't let them know I need it. For some weird reason we tend to want all this support but, in most cases, we don't share the issue as if others are mind readers. Wives tend to treat their husbands that way A LOT but that is indeed for another time. Here the person singing shifts from me reminding myself, to Christ speaking to me. Christ is telling me He can’t fill my needs if I refuse to ask, If I'm too prideful to accept His help through another person. We can’t act like He just going to wave a wand and poof all things are better. He works through the people in our lives. All of this lines up with scripture because we are to call on Christ our friend, our burden bearer. All things belong to the Father and we have what we ask for through the son. Therefore, we are always borrowing what belongs to the Father because our Friend (and Savior) petitions Him for it. He sees His friend in need and His friend has asked for help will He not give it?
You just call on me brother
when you need a hand
we all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'll understand
we all need somebody to lean on
if there is a load you need to bear
that you can’t carry
I’m right up the road
ill share your load
if you just call me.
Scripture supports that we are the children of the Most High. Christ is the first begotten of the Most High thus we are brethren. He is right up the road (in Heaven), Christ is always near to us and as we draw nigh to Him, He draws nigh to us. He is our burden bearer, and He is telling me that I don't have to carry this alone if I just call Him. There is no problem I can have that He can’t understand. The person He chooses to use to help me will have the testimony of what issue I am having to help encourage me through my time of pain and sorrow. An example a parent that loses a child having someone that has been through that before themselves they are able to help encourage that person to hold onto hope. To remember that they are not gone just moved on. Christ will carry us to it, over it, through it and under it all we have to do is ask.
What inspired me to write this today? Earlier when listening to it. Christ reminded me that even He in the flesh needed help to carry His load and the Father used His neighbor. Remember the seen in the Passion of the Christ when He was going up the road carrying His cross to be crucified and He needed help from the man on the side of the road to carry it? We as in everybody all have pain, sorrow and needs that the Most High fulfills through other people thus the reason to be more like Christ kind, compassionate, loving and forgiving.
I hope this encourages someone that might be going through a rough time. I listen to this song to remind myself to call on the Lord, to accept help to ask for it and most of all to embrace that my friend is always here with me to help me when I'm in need.
