Keepers of the Flame II

Keepers of the flame are the people of God that allow Him full access to every area of their lives. They have a real relationship with the Most High. When He reveals to them the things that they need relief from they allow Him to remove it no matter how painful it is. No matter how many times they fall, get hurt or hesitate they will give Him access to what needs to be cleansed. They will get back up and they will keep going no matter how many times they want to quit. Something in them drives them further and further with the determination that they will see His promises in their lives manifest, they will be in His presence once more, they will allow the sanctification process to be completed in their lives. They find that the promises outweigh the hurt and pain.

The Most High desires to be with us dwelling amongst us and in constant communion with us. He has plans for our lives He wants to share with us, but trust must be established, and fear must be removed from our hearts. Not the reverential fear of the Lord but the fear of the enemy. The removal of fear and establishment of trust is of the utmost importance in this relationship. Without it we cannot become keepers of the flame. In part one we talked about what the flame is, how we get it and its importance in the walk of a believer. Here we will talk about four areas every believer should be growing in daily to keep the flame burning.

The four areas of growth to continually feed the flame is going to be His presence, passion, purity and sanctification. Here’s how He applies them to our lives. We as believers start out on the milk of the word as babes in Christ. We tend to spit up a lot and as we grow, we stop spitting up so much and become better at keeping down what we eat. Just as a child grows and starts eating from the table so should we. A hunger starts to develop, and we begin to look to Him to satisfy it.

With each encounter something in us begins to change. We suddenly want Him. We want to sit at his feet, see His face, hear His voice, we just want to be with Him. That quiet time with Him to show ourselves vulnerable to and for Him. In our daily search for His presence a passion is birthed, we now want Him more than the air we breathe. We start to see life as a death sentence if we can’t have His presence. Everything in life becomes pointless if we can’t encounter Him to be in His presence. This burning inside us starts to grow as we become a witness to the beauty of His presence.

With the birth of His passion in us we begin to accept His will, leadership and guidance. We grow in hunger for Him and the things of Him that will make us more mature in the word. We hate what He hates, love what He loves and desires for ourselves what He desires for us. This passion is fed by the daily reading of His word, listening to the word hearing with the ears of our heart and praise and worship. Holy Spirit brings the increase to this flame and fortifies this passion. Burning away anything that would stop the flame from growing. As we grow were told to hand over more and more of the desires of our flesh and it is consumed by the fire of Holy Spirits presence in us.

Burning with His -passion we begin to want what He wants. We desire to have anything in us removed that would hinder us from having all of Him that we can have. We begin fasting to grow closer to Him, some of us pray in the spirit while others don’t. Either way prayer and fasting become center stage of our life for a long season. This passion begins to remove apathy, selfishness and rebellion. Spiritual warfare increases as the enemy sees in the sprit the alter, we are raising up before the Most High. If we will allow patience to have her perfect work in us the flames intensity will increase, and we will notice that the enemy is being driven back. The more we fast the more things begin to intensify the more the attacks and we are then at a place where if we aren’t persistent and consistent in reading, prayer, fasting, praise and worship we will give up from the pressure. Praying in our heavenly language is important at this stage as He intercedes for us, we begin to yield to Him more and more.

This yielding process helps us dress for the battle we are in as we put on the whole armor of God. His passion burning so strong in us thrust us into freedom through purification. We begin to break free from adulteration and sexual immorality. As we are breaking free Holy Spirit begins to show us how to fortify the ground we’ve gained. Purity is about giving Him the hidden things we do behind closed doors. With purity brings our ability to love ourselves, withhold nothing from Him and it opens the door to His voice. The interaction between earthmen and a Holy righteous creator. Our walk of purity teaches us the importance of obedience and trust. It teaches us to gladly turn from sin. We don’t see what is happening during this process, but fasting is allowing Holy Spirit to burn through those desires releasing more and more passion for the things of Him while revealing our true selves to us.

It is through revealing our true selves to us that leads us to the sanctification process. Through reading the word daily, prayer, fasting, praise and worship Holy Spirit moves through us. It is in praise and worship that we release our greatest expressions of love, adoration and hope back to Him. This in turns releases His power through us. We are consecrated, set apart and washed with the water of the word.

Through the mysteries of reading, prayer, fasting, praise and worship we come alive in Him and dead to the flesh. We become purified and free to release His power through us. Holy Spirit now works through us to heal the sick, raise the dead and set captives free. Through this process our purpose is birthed in us. We begin to understand things we previously had issues with. We begin to allow His glory to be seen in us as we stand on the word ever obedient to His guidance we grow. We continually seek to keep the flame alive in us while putting the enemy to flight gaining ground as others see Him work in us.  We become the keepers of the flame an example before others of what a righteous, holy and faithful loving creator looks like.  We become the mirrors in the earth to reflect His character and image to a dying world.
