Drawing Nigh

There are three things we want to look at that Father uses to draw us closer to Him to increase our intimacy with Him. The first one is pain. God promises to work all things out to our good and one of the ways that He does that is by using the pain that we cause ourselves through making poor decisions. No matter what we have going on in life when pain meets us face to face, we cry out to the Most High for relief and deliverance from that pain. We cry out come save me, rescue me don’t leave me here to suffer like this. We realize we made a mistake and are quick to cry out for His help.

We begin to make all sorts of promises to get away from this pain. We look for answers, we look to Him because something in us is just wired that way. We just somehow know that He is the answer. In our pain we cry out and He comforts us, He gives us the relief we need He steps in and saves the day right on time. We are forever grateful until some time goes by and we are right back at life again drifting away from the promises we made Him if He would get us out of our mess. Looking back at the world trying to find our niche again without Him. Another load of pain comes from another bad choice, and we fall at His feet crying out again and He being moved with compassion saves us from ourselves and the consequences of our destructive decisions.

Here we have a loving Father that says be obedient and we rebel. Just as an earthly parent says to a child don’t touch that its hot. That parent can tell that child that because the parent is wiser than the child. Father is wiser than we are. He says to us not to do something because He wants to protect us from the consequences. Just as that child must suffer the burn for rebelling against the parent’s word and touching that hot item so must we suffer from our poor decisions that go against the word of God. Father is faithful, merciful and gracious enough to display compassion to us even when we rebel because He knows we just don’t get it.

The second thing that Father uses to draw us close to Him is prophetic promises. Prophetic promises usually have a lot to do with us fulfilling our destinies in the earth. Father is giving us a glimpse of our purposes in the earth through these promises. The promise is designed to cause us to pursue Him that we may be able to obtain the promise. When we hear about the promise we must now begin to pray and seek Him for guidance on our part for manifestation of the promise. In doing this we are drawing closer to Him becoming more intimate. Understand the promise is not about giving us something to get us to pursue Him rather its about us pursuing Him that He can fulfill the destiny of our lives that He has already written before the earth began. When we begin praying and seeking that promise we start to connect with who we really are, what we are here for, why we were created and that is so satisfying and fulfilling to us. Its what we seek after all our lives usually apart from Him until we grow weary in searching and then we come to Him for rest and go at it again. The promise is to cause us to focus on a certain area in our life that He wants to transform so that we can become who were meant to be as well as be rewarded for doing it.

Lastly, we have dreams. For the vast majority of us the dreams we have will cause us to pursue God for the interpretation more than anything else in this world. We are so caught up with wanting to understand the mystery of what He is saying to us that we pray, read and search out scripture for answers. We commune not only with Him for answers but fellowship with others over it. We seek Him so passionately for an interpretation never realizing that its more about the intimacy than anything else. If we will allow Him to draw close to us, He will unfold not just the interpretation of our dreams but so much more will be given. He will enlighten us with the understanding of our purpose that reason He created us. How wonderful is that? The Most High is full of compassion and love towards us. He gives us free will to choose what life we will live. He awaits our call to draw close to Him. He speaks to us in the hours of the night when our own minds can’t distract us and lovingly draws us closer to Him bit by bit.
